Bureau Leontine Hamer

War, health care, social media, individualism, ozone layer, stewardship, religion, inequality, do good, learn . . .
The future is a sum of the past and present.

With this principle in mind, we study was and is and combine this information with relevant
data and upcoming trends. New developments do not come out of nowhere. Bureau Leontine Hamer provides focused
future analyses, which are expressed in written and/or visual form based on research that was
carried out by us or in collaboration with you. Our disruptive methods and our knack for
knowing what is going on in society make us a remarkable discussion partner. Although we
are not able to provide alibis for a particular idea, we are an autonomous adviser for
companies, organisations, and governments that are open to innovation and improvement.

Concrete

Bureau Leontine Hamer offers the following:
1. Surprising future forecasts as presentation, event, in written and/or visual form.
2. In-company-training in future research or-interpretation.
3. Development of new Cconcepts in agreement with the identity of your organisation or company.
4. Brainstorming and the translation will be done on location.

Our support will help to better understand the past and to claim the future.
We do this by guiding you every step of the way.

Blurred boundaries

The internet has blurred all boundaries in one fell swoop. In addition to the internet, there are more developments that make us forget our country’s borders. Globalisation continues to push our beacons. In this world the following question arises: What is yours and what is mine? Let’s talk.

blurred time

Us people can do anything we set our minds to. We even believe that we can control time. We fully commit to our health and the fight with aging. This need to exercise control over these facets of our lives is forming itself into a new religion. Or are we just fooling ourselves? Let’s talk

blurred contact

We fully commit to social media and desire likes from digital profiles. But what does having a thousand followers on Instagram say? What is contact nowadays and how do we make contact in these times? Let’s talk.

blurred consumption

Is there still a balance? We produce more than the world can handle. The western world has become a monster that is almost unstoppable. We want more and more. However, what do we consequently have to sacrifice as a result of our shopaholic behaviour?
And who suffers? Let’s talk.

TIME RESEARCH 2018: 24 TIMES ZONES, IN 24 DAYS. WHAT IT TAUGHT ME...

24 days, 24 timezones, 24 places

In November 2018 I made a trip. A journey of 24 days, travelling through 24 time zones. A research in collaboration with the University of Twente and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. For this trip I was very busy with aspects of job satisfaction & work pressure. I wanted to experience what it feels like when you constantly run into the limits of the clock. That’s how this plan developed. Halfway through the trip I told Christophe (www.fingerspitzenkollektiv.com) that I had the feeling of being paralyzed during the trip. With every obstacle that influenced my time use, I felt pressure in body and mind. Meanwhile I have deepened myself in scarcity and what that does to a person. Want to know more? 3 aspects of TIME

The research delved into three time aspects:

YOUR OWN TIME

Do you do what you want or what you ‘must’ do? How much do you work, exercise, and sleep? And are you satisfied with the way you use your time?

THE INFLUENCE OF TIME

Meaning and influence. What are timezones and how many are there? What is biological rhythm?  Wat zijn tijdzones en hoeveel tijdzones zijn er? Wat is een bioritme? Are we affected by the change from summer- to wintertime?

TIME AND SOCIETY

Our available time. What does this time do to our living environment? How does time influence our (consumer) society?

Leontine Hamer

I have always had the desire to provide organisations with insight into relevant trend developments. This desire stems from a curiosity towards the world and what is going on in it. It is not easy to accurate tap into these future changes in these fast times. I became a future-analyst for this reason, to be able to provide organisations with relevant information that helps them make just decisions. In establishing my view on specific subjects, I look at all possibilities. Sensing the underlying timbre is something that cannot be taught but it is a talent you must possess. This unique ability, combined with the right knowledge and good observation skills, make me a worthy and powerful sounding board particularly for bigger organisations. Organisations that are directly and indirectly under the influence of market developments.

24 days, 24 time zones | Part 2 Las Vegas

An hour at night, I arrive at McCarran Airport, the airport of Las Vegas. It is the 8th airport in the world. How’s that? Why? A small 43 million tourists come every year, 70% of whom come to gamble.

24 days, 24 timezones | Part 1: Manila

Nine o’clock in the morning I walk with my guide through Baseco, one of the slums, in Manila. Klam weather, the district is located on the sea, where all kinds of junk find their way to open water or beach. Houses, who aren’t houses, pavement, who isn’t a pavemen. Cables everywhere. Running around grubby children. Suddenly I hear someone sing. Nine o’clock Monday morning, not really time for karaoke.

“Have you wasted your time today? … or didn’t have time?”

If you could lie on your canapé all day long in the 18th century, it was a form of enormous wealth. In this time you are successful, if you have a full agenda and hundreds of mails.

Was school, from the Latin word scholare, for rest and free time. There is no question in the current form. We used to live with the rhythm of day / night and the seasons, now there is under an article: the reading time is 3.23 minutes.

The worth of.. [Part 3 – Dying]

What is life worth when you are homeless or a refugee? What is life worth when you must go to a food bank every week or when you have bulimia or anorexia nervosa? What is life worth when you stare death in the face? Or the other way around, what is life worth when it is over but you have to keep going for only a little while?
